Rafting in the Grand Canyon with Tom Martin
Event Description:

Free Event at Cozens Ranch Museum in celebration of Spring!

Join Flagstaff author Tom Martin for a fun, visual presentation on his newest book, Big Water, Little Boats, in which he follows the whitewater exploits of Moulty Fulmer. The builder of Grand Canyon’s first dory during the high-water heyday of river running before Glen Canyon Dam, Fulmer manages almost forty years of boating between 1942 and 1978, where he boated with Norm Nevills, Frank Wright, Dock Marston, Pat Reilly, and Martin Litton, besides rubbing shoulders with many other river runners who were Fulmer’s contemporaries. Bring your life jacket!

About the Author:

Author of the award winning Guide to the Colorado River in Grand Canyon and Day Hikes from the River, Tom Martin has hiked the backcountry and run the Colorado River in Grand Canyon for much of his life. He recently built a replica of the first Grand Canyon dory, the GEM, based on the wreck of the original boat and the journals, photos and notes of Moulty Fulmer, Dock Marston, Pat Reilly and their friends. He has now run the GEM through the Grand Canyon six times and has only flipped it a couple of times.
