Name: Beginner Yoga Series with Lisa Havlik
Date: October 29, 2014
Time: 6:45 PM - 8:00 PM MDT
Event Description:

Shoshin is a concept in Zen Buddhism meaning "beginner's mind". It refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner in that subject would.

If you have been interested in incorporating yoga into your lifestyle routine, but have been apprehensive about attending a studio class, this series is for you. This beginner series is designed to create an understanding of the fundamentals of yoga. We will introduce asana (poses) with modifications and props-- all with a focus on healthy alignment. Students will leave this series with a basic understanding of how to practice with a sturdy foundation so that they can confidently, and safely, attend studio classes. In addition to setting up basic yoga poses, we will incorporate yogic breathing, meditation and relaxation techniques. There are so many benefits to starting a yoga practice! We will set up the groundwork for a lasting, and fun, practice. Yoga is about creating a strong connection between mind and body and maintaining a platform for overall health and self-exploration. Meet us on the mat, and bring your "beginner's mind"!
