We will be hosting a sled dog first aid course on May 29th and we would like to invite anyone with an active dog who may be interested in joining us.
What: Assessing and Managing Injuries in Sled Dogs: a course covering essential first aid and care for sled dogs (or active dogs!)
The course will be taught by veterinarian Wendy Herlihy, who has competed in mid-distance dog sled races, including the AttaBoy 300, Pedigree Stage Stop, UP200, mid-distance Beargrease, and the Yellowknife Dog Derby, among others. This course will cover paw care, diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic and soft tissue injuries, nutrition, on-trail first aid, and more. It will be taught as a combination of lecture time and hands-on practice (dogs will be provided for you).
