Time: 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM MDT
Event Description:
The Hike for Spencer is held in memory of Spencer Nelson who died three years ago in at tragic climbing accident on the Maroon Bells. Spencer grew up in the Fraser Valley and was an elite athlete for the Competition Center and a Division I Alpine racer for the University of Colorado.

The First Annual Hike for Spencer was held in August 2011 with over 400 participants raising $30,000 for the Spencer Nelson Memorial Fund - Winter Park Ski Education Foundation. The money raised was used to fund Competition Center Program fees and travel expenditures for youths who otherwise would not have been able to participate in the Winter Park Competition Center. Our mission is to make sure that every child in Grand County who has the desire to participate in winter sports is given the opportunity. Our goal is to educate the community of the benefits of investing in our youth by helping them become successful individuals through participation in winter sports that ememphasize integrity, tenacity and sportsmanship.
